Dr. Williams is an attorney, speaker and civil rights activist who has had an illustrious career fighting for racial and gender equality, as well as for educational equality.  President Obama appointed Dr. Williams as a Commissioner on the Presidential Scholars Commission.  She also serves as the National Chair of the National Congress of Black Women, Inc.  (NCBW)

Founded by Shirley Chisholm, the NCBW is a non-profit organization dedicated to the educational, political, economic and cultural development of African American Women and their families. During Dr. Williams’ tenure as National Chair, the NCBW brought “Truth to the Capitol” when on April 28, 2009, a bust of Sojourner Truth, a former slave, was placed in Emancipation Hall of the U.S. Capitol.

During her interview, Dr. Williams discusses “giving back” and encourages the youth to pay homage and get involved with the organizations responsible for many of the rights they enjoy today.
