Reclaiming Dopeness

The message in this blog post is awesome…it is DOPE! I had to share with so you to can stand up and proudly claim your dopeness.

Gems for the Journey

Thank you @messinabottle for bringing this shirt to the people…. My sentiments exactly!

A word on dopeness. I had a hard time coming around to defining a word that expresses admiration and gives props all at the same time. Dopeness is an energy that manifests itself when the stars align and one’s ability to be exceptional is giving them a glow. It’s easy to acknowledge in art or music because creative arts evoke emotion, music can teleport me to a time and place many years past. In that moment every sense is reliving the smells, tastes, sights, sounds, and vibes I felt when the memory and that song were bonded together and tucked into my memory bank. Music gives me all the feels. Like when you hear a song and you have to know who the artist is immediately so you can put it on repeat and start looking…

Review 2019 Today!

This is a repost from January 2013. I just tweaked it slightly.

All the personal growth experts advise people to set aside time during the last week of the December and do a review of the year.  During this year-end review, you look to see which goals were reached and which were not, which strategies or ideas worked for you and which did not, you recall milestones and generally reflect on your life.  The review gives you more solid directions, things to keep doing, for the upcoming year so you can live a more purposeful and happy life.

I wholeheartedly agree with doing a review, but I have a problem.  Continue reading “Review 2019 Today!”

Time for a Reboot!

In January, you made some New Year’s resolutions, set some goals you wanted to achieve this year. Maybe they were fitness, health, financial, business, family or recreational goals. You started working on them and you were chugging along and then life got in the way. You stopped working on your goals.

Well it’s August now and the year is more than one half over so it’s too late to pick them back up right? Wrong! Six months of the year may have passed, but thank goodness, the year is not over!

Now is the perfect time to reboot, to restart your life. Now is the perfect time to pick your goals and start working on them again.

Why is now the perfect time? Continue reading “Time for a Reboot!”

How to See Opportunity Everywhere You Go — Leadership Freak

I am re-blogging this article because I found it directly relates to personal development! It’s not THEM; it’s YOU!!

How you show up— your attitude— greatly affects any given situation.

Kudos to @DanRockwell!

The way you show up impacts what you see. Leaders who show up to fix things see problems and inadequacies. Leaders who show up to celebrate progress see strengths and opportunities. The world stinks: When the whole world stinks, the stench is about you, not the world. It’s like a man with a mustache after […]

Christmas and #lovechallenge2017

2017 was a year full of events in our lives. Some events we loved, some we just liked and some we could have lived without. We lost some people dear to us and we welcomed new people into our lives.

As a result of these events, we are each a different person than who we were on January 1, 2017. How so? Because all the events we experienced changed us into the person who is reading this message.

Hopefully, the events made you stronger, more courageous, wiser than you were before they happened. If they did, you experienced personal growth. If they didn’t, I invite you to revisit event and reassess them and their effect on you. Now that time has passed, I bet you see them in a different light.

We are all busy running here and there doing holiday stuff. Continue reading “Christmas and #lovechallenge2017”

Getting Better, Inspiration

Let’s Get It Started In Here!

You get excited when you read motivational quotes and post then on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You cheer when a speaker lays down a nugget of wisdom that makes you jump from your seat. You put your nose down, determined to make the quote and nugget an integral part of your life. It’s there for about a day or two, then you forget about it as life gets in the way and you fall back into your old behaviors.

You’ve heard that a personal growth and development plan must be a part of your everyday life. You know it’s important because it will help new behaviors and habits stick, but you don’t know how to start a plan or where to begin or what to do. You are not alone. Very often, people ask me when they should start a personal development plan or if they are too old to start one.  My answer to both questions is Start Now!

No matter what happened in your past or what you thought yesterday, you can start living a different life with new behaviors and habits today.   After all, the cells of your body don’t stop changing when you reach 18 years of age, so why should the way you think or view life stop evolving at a given point in time?  If you have a desire to improve yourself and your life, embrace it! There are three initial steps you must take to begin your personal growth and development plan: Continue reading “Let’s Get It Started In Here!”

Live Your Joy Now

I received this message the other day from a very good friend. It really touched me because as humans, we tend to see the negative and the lack in our lives faster than anything else. This message reminded me to stop and see the joy and richness that is, in fact, in my life right now so I thought I would share this with you:

Don’t wait for life to be perfect, or fret and complain that it is not. Live it as it comes, doing all you can, thankful for each day, enthusiastic about making it count.

Happiness does not suddenly appear when you get what you want. Happiness is a state of being that empowers you to create what you choose.

Rather than harboring resentment about what you lack, be resourceful with all you have. Feel your miraculous ability to make a difference, and put it to work.

If all your dreams had already come true, you’d have nothing to look forward to. If everything was perfect, you’d have no way to make a positive difference.

Expect great things, but don’t let joy be held hostage by your expectations. Live your joy now, with the way things are, as imperfect as they may be.

Despite its flaws, this time, this place is your opportunity to live with richness and fulfillment. Stop wishing for it to have been different, and start living at your highest and best right now.
