Encouragement, Inspiration

The Gift of You

I’m old-school. The Christmas season doesn’t officially begin until after Santa Claus appears at the end of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. Thanksgiving has passed so the Christmas season is now officially here! You may now put up your Christmas decorations and play Christmas music.

This is the season when we take our focus off ourselves and focus on other people. Our thoughts turn to giving and thinking of others, especially those who are close to us. Feelings of joy fill the air. However, some of us fall into the trap of letting the season turn us into stressed-out, guilt-ridden and debt-accumulating individuals; we lose the feelings of joy. Don’t fall into the trap this year. Continue reading “The Gift of You”

The Fourth Thursday

The fourth Thursday in the month of November is set aside as Thanksgiving Day. It’s a national holiday in the U.S. A time for family and friends to gather together to laugh, catch-up, watch football games and eat foods they’ve been waiting to eat all year to eat (like stuffing!) It’s All Part of the Same Pie

I’m guilty. I’ve written post after post talking about the value of reading or listening to material that improves the way you think and act. An enlightened mind takes your thoughts and actions to new, higher levels of achievement. And I’ve spent my time doing exactly that.

slicedpieBut recently I had a revelation. Personal development encompasses more than the way you think. It also encompasses other areas of your life.

  1. Your Physical Being. Being healthy is vital. If you feel sluggish, you act sluggishly. You certainly don’t want to read or listen to anything.  Be sure to incorporate exercise into your day. You can start small by just adding more walking more during your day. Invest in a good pedometer to count your steps. Exercise reduces stress, and lowers blood pressure and cholesterol. Watch what you eat. A steady diet of fast food, skipped breakfasts and snack food can lead to deficiencies in the nutrients and vitamins that your body needs to function properly. Add more fruit, vegetables and water to your diet. You will feel great and have more energy!
