The Book

A New Book by Sharman J. Monroe

Today, Tate Publishing begins the production of my first book!!!! I am so excited! But, to be honest, the whole book publishing thing is still kinda surreal to me. I mean, stuff I wrote will be massed produced for people to buy all over the world…. WOW!

Anyway surrealism aside (see I’m all over the place!), the book has a working title but my publisher (don’t you just love the sound of that?) says not to get married to it because it may change during the editing process. So I’m not going to tell you the title. But I will tell you it’s about personal growth from God’s point of view.

My publisher (oops, I said it again!) says the publishing process takes about 180 days, give or take, depending on everything working out and getting done perfectly. And we know we don’t live in a perfect world so….. Maybe I’ll blog about the process so those of you who are thinking about publishing a book get an idea of what’s it like. If you like the idea of me writing about the process let me know in the comments.

Anyway, I have to respond to some emails from my publisher.   Smiley

The Book

I’ve Done It Now!

I started writing a book on personal growth in 2011 (I think that was the year).  Well, more like dabbling instead of writing. I would write a little here, write a little there. I told some friends I was writing a book and one of them had the nerve to tell her publisher what I was doing! And had more nerve to tell me send an email to her publisher introducing myself!

For some strange reason, I followed her instruction and sent a copy of the Table of Contents and the Introduction to her publisher. Much to my surprise, Continue reading “I’ve Done It Now!”

Women Do Wonders as Entrepreneurs

by Sarah Brooks

Women occupy the same employment roles as men do, including more and more positions as entrepreneurs and business developers. While entrepreneurialism is a lifestyle choice as much as it is a job, there are many features that make women stand out for their autonomous business initiatives.

Men and women are motivated by some of the same things; especially in business where cash rewards and benefits are a large part of the picture. But personal satisfaction is at play too, so it is important to recognize some of the things that make women unique, and ideally suited for entrepreneurial roles.

Today’s business development climate includes resources specifically targeting female entrepreneurs. Organizations like SBA, for example, routinely lend assistance to start-up efforts launched by women. And mentorship between women is also on the rise, as successful women pass their understanding of businesses practices and trends to one another. While particular skill sets enable women to succeed in specialized fields, there is nonetheless common ground between women working across a variety of industries. The following considerations Continue reading “Women Do Wonders as Entrepreneurs”

May Mini Vay-Cay

Hello Folks!

My May mini vay-cay was something I have NEVER done before…..LASER TAG!  What;s that you ask?  Laser Tag is a game of tag people play in a semi-lit arena with obstacles.  You “tag” players or other objects using a hand-held “gun” that emits infrared light.  Players wear a vest or other gear that has targets on it.  When you hit a target, it changes color and you get points.  You also get points for tagging objects in the arena.

I went with my Shechem Covenant Outreach Ministries family.  It was an outing for the young adults and since I consider myself a young adult, Continue reading “May Mini Vay-Cay”

Getting Better

It’s Hard To See The Picture When You Are In The Frame

I’m doing a re-posting because it’s important to know that although you don’t feel different as you walk your journey and make changes in your life, don’t give up.

It’s August….the heat has let up for now….it’s not raining today…  Whatever the reason, I thought I would do some self-assessment this week.   If you read my blogs, you know I believe self-improvement is critical in anyone’s life.  You know I read motivating books and magazines, and listen to positive tapes.  (if you don’t know, you can click Books on Personal Development in the top Menu).

Recently, I attended a leadership boot camp.  For my company, boot camp means honest talk and guidance to get you to the next level in your personal development; to get you out of your comfort zone so you will become a better person, a better leader.  As Tim Ferriss, author of The 4-Hour Workweek, says, “The most important actions are never comfortable.”   Continue reading “It’s Hard To See The Picture When You Are In The Frame”
